Free ABCCM Green Jobs Training

ABCCM Free Green Jobs Training. No experience is needed for the weatherization Building Performance Institute (BPI) classes. These free four-day BPI classes are available now through the end of November. See end of announcement for requirements.

Note class times/dates may vary according to the schedule below:

Free LEED Green Associates Class starting Sept 20th.
This cours is a two-day class plus three days of study sessions. LEED participants must have experience in: landscaping, electrical, 4 yr degree, realty, OR sustainability/environmental science. LEED GA accredidation is through US Green Building Council. This certification is geared toward unemployed/laid off green building professionals or people looking to sell products designed to help building projects get LEED points. See requirements at end.
LEED class: Sept 20 (9am-5pm), 21 (9am-5pm), 26 (8:30am-11:30am), 27 (8:30am-11:30am) & 28 (8:30-noon)

Weatherization BPI Class Tuesday--Friday, 9am-5pm.
(Each 4 day class is repeated and is only take once.)
You can take BPI: Sept 20-23 OR Oct 4-7 OR Oct 18-21 OR Nov 1-4 OR Nov 15-18.
You must complete paperwork and be approved before attending.

In addition to the free classes, ABCCM Green Jobs provides participants:
a. Regular constant contact & support from us during their job search
b. Encouragement, access to interviews (foot in the door), feedback on interviews, resume assistance, preps for interviews, reference letter and relationship with staffing agencies
c. Networking opportunities
d. Our goal is to place in jobs over 80 percent of our graduates in the next several months.


• Individuals from targeted high poverty areas of Asheville as defined by the Department of Labor. (This is most of Asheville plus some surrounding areas.)
• Individuals who are at least 18 years of age.

(Once the above 2 qualifications are met, then at least ONE of the qualifications below must be met).
• Individuals who are unemployed.
• Individuals who did not graduate from high school.
• Individuals with a criminal background.
• Individuals who have a low income which qualifies under the rules of the grant.

Please email Diane Stanton at  with any questions regarding the above classs, or if you are interested in Ticket to Work (TTW), a separate program that is also run out of ABCCM. TTW is an employment program for people with disabilities who are interested in going to work. Beneficiaries are offered a trial work period where they can work and earn wages and continue to receive SSI/SSDI benefits and medical coverage.
