On March 26, 2019 NCSEA Executive Director Ivan Urlaub was presented with the Clean Energy Champion award from Audubon NC. The Clean Energy Champion Award is dedicated to those who create transformative impact and accelerate the growth of clean energy in North Carolina.

With over a century of conservation history, Audubon strives to conserve and restore wildlife habitats, focusing on needs of birds across our state and the country. As good stewards of the land, clean energy and nature conservancy go hand-in-hand. Audubon advocates to expand bird-friendly clean energy. Like NCSEA, they believe that customers deserve fair pricing and the freedom to choose clean energy options and rate payers should be in the driver’s seat when it comes to controlling their energy use. They also believe that growth of wind projects, when sited properly, can coexist with birds.

After receiving the award, Ivan spoke about the steady, decades long relationship between NCSEA and Audubon NC. Through collaboration on responsible development of clean energy, especially wind power, these two organizations have made great strides for the planet. He described critical work making sure NC has a strong and vibrant clean energy economy, and that residents must be questioning and addressing environmental and social energy needs every step of the way.

Congratulations, Ivan!
