Ethan Blumenthal
REGULATORY COUNSEL
As Regulatory Counsel, Ethan works to advance clean energy policies at the NC Utilities Commission and other policy-making venues—providing NCSEA with legal analysis of clean energy policy and supporting clean energy’s advancement in the state’s regulatory landscape.
Ethan previously co-founded and ran Good Solar, a 501(c)(3) that creates renewable energy solutions for nonprofit organizations and low- and moderate-income communities. Most recently, Ethan also represented four environmental justice and indigenous rights-oriented organizations before the NC Utility Commission during the development of North Carolina’s inaugural Carbon Plan. Born and raised in Charlotte and the North Carolina mountains, Ethan graduated from the University of Colorado Boulder with a bachelor’s degree in Political Science, Environmental Studies, and an Economics minor in 2015. He graduated from the University of North Carolina School of Law with Honors in 2018 before working as a year-long fellow at the Center for Climate, Energy, Environment, and Economics (CE3).
