Action Alert: Support the Biomass Thermal Utilization Act
An opportunity to enact provisions of the Biomass Thermal Utilization Act has presented itself in the form of the Federal Aviation Administration's reauthorization bill which is now being considered on the U.S. Senate floor.
"The BTU Act allows renewable biomass thermal energy to qualify for the same federal tax credits that wind and solar have been receiving for years. The Act provides investment tax credits of up to 30% to defray the upfront costs of efficient commercial and residential biomass thermal and CHP installations. This Act would drive a major boost in renewable energy investment, providing critical jobs in the biomass supply chain, manufacturing, and construction sectors in North Carolina, reducing the heating costs of homeowners and businesses, creating a market for low value forest and ag residuals to allow for proper land and forest management, and lowering net greenhouse gas emissions associated with meeting the thermal energy needs of the state."

Please email your U.S. Senator asking for their support to include Senator King's BTU ACT amendment in the Senate's manager's amendment to the FAA bill (H.R. 636).
This is an urgent request. Negotiations will likely be wrapped up on Monday or Tuesday at the latest.
